This map represents the share of children under age 18 who lived in families with incomes less than 50 percent of the federal poverty level, as defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. For example, in calendar year 2008, a family of two adults and two children fell in the “extreme income poverty” category if their annual income fell below $10,917.
This map represents the share of children under age 18 who live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level, as defined by the United States Office of Management and Budget. For example, in calendar year 2008, a family of two adults and two children fell in the “poverty” category if their annual income fell below $21,834.
This map represents the share of children under age 18 who live in families with incomes less than 200 percent of the federal poverty level, as defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. For example, in Calendar year 2008, a family of two adults and two children fell in the “low-income poverty” category if their annual income fell below $43,668.
